The Rising Sun Foundation, Inc is a body of men and women dedicated to improving the lives of children, youths, mothers, fathers and families experiencing educational, homelessness and medical challenges in Tennessee USA and the Eastern part of Nigeria.
OUR STORY:
The Rising Sun Foundation, Inc was formed when members of the Igbo Association of Nashville TN identified the sons and daughters of the association with great dreams and aspirations longing to further their education through High Schools, Colleges, and Universities. The members reached out to their networks of friends and families for support, and the response was immediate, powerful, and commendable. An overwhelming number of men and women offered to help not only by donating monies, but also by donating their time, to transport, organize, store donated laptops. What started as a few members of Igbo Association reaching out to help aspiring Youths in their education and Organizing Health Seminars quickly mobilized into a network Medical Doctors, men and women reaching to help an even larger network of students and people in various communities in need. The Rising Sun Foundation was born.
Our Mission
The Rising Sun Foundation is a 501 (c)3 non-profit organization that provides shelter, educational, medical, and household support to youths, families, and children experiencing educational challenges, homelessness, and poverty.
Our focus is on helping families facing desperate needs and youths up to the age of 17. We also provide support for special events such as Youth Award Nights to encourage aspiring young adults in their educational pursuits. We also organize special holiday events in conjunction with our partner agencies across the city.
We believe that supporting Youths to excel in education and helping families that are facing desperate needs to better themselves can decrease the cycles of ignorance, homelessness, poverty, abuse, and neglect.
The Rising Sun Foundation, Inc is a volunteer-run, 501(c)(3) tax-exempt not-for-profit corporation.
OUR EVENTS
We regularly host events to help the community we serve. These events include:
Youth Award Nights, Health, and Wellness Seminars, Back to School Drives and Parties, an Annual End of the Year Event, and more! We also host occasional fundraising events to raise funds to support families impacted by severe storms/tornadoes, people in our communities facing medical challenges and unpaid medical bills. We also extend helping hands to families in Eastern Part of Nigeria that are facing unemployment by providing them startup capital to operate their own businesses, so that they can better themselves and be liberated from homelessness and poverty.
